Though the concept of touch input is fairly aged by now, the ideas of multi-touch input, intuitive controls and true interactivity were not successfully implemented until recently, when Windows 7 and the latest version of Android came out. With these operating systems, consumers could interact with their PCs, manage their image galleries and perform tasks that could not have been carried out before. However, the fact remains that there are very few desktop displays actually in possession of touch input. AOC seeks to alleviate this problem by bringing out one such device by next month.

The monitor that AOC will bring forth in June is known as the e2239Fwt and has a screen size of 21.5 inches. Sporting an aluminum frame and two 'feet' instead of a stand, the liquid crystal display (LCD) will let users practically get their hands on their programs in a very literal sense. Not only that, but the product can even brag about a significant display quality and performance.

One thing is that the e2239Fwt has full support for the Full-HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, which means that it will make short work of any Full-HD videos and high-resolution images.

Other benefits include a WLED backlight and a response time of 5ms. A more important asset, however, is that, even though its 250 cd/m2 brightness isn't the most spectacular, the screen excels when it comes to image quality, with a dynamic contrast ratio of no less than 20,000,000:1.

For interfacing with host PCs, AOC's electronic is designed with a pair of HDMI inputs, as well as a D-Sub connector. There are also three USB ports and two loudspeakers. Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing, but this final detail should be revealed before long, considering that this monitor might just make an appearance at Computex.
