Despite the fact that diagonal size does matter a lot nowadays when purchasing a new HDTV set, the truth of the matter is that quite a lot of homes are simply too small for widescreen LCDs and PDPs. For this reason, the people from AOC have just announced a completely new line of high-definition LCD TV sets, designed especially for a category of consumers described by the company as "tech-savvy urban dwellers."

The new family of HDTVs is comprised of three models, namely the L19W861, a 19-inch model, the L26W861, measuring 26 inches in diagonal and finally the L32W861, a 32-inch HDTV. As you can see, the display sizes are far from impressive, but they're tailored to the needs of a particular market segment, according to Robert Velez, marketing manager of AOC. "This line of HDTVs are designed to fit the needs of consumers in an urban living environment, with sizes and resolutions specifically tailored for optimum viewing with limited space They are designed to look cool in any room and meet the demands of how today's consumers use TVs, such as HD gaming in a bedroom, watching TV in the kitchen, or a movie in the den."

All of the models share a few common specs. For example, they're capable of delivering resolutions ranging between 1440x900 pixels (the 19-inch one) and 1366x768 pixels (the 26 and 32 inchers), and they've also been equipped with a wide variety of connectivity options, including PC input with audio, Digital ATSC and Clear QAM Tuner and HDMI inputs (2 interfaces on the 32-inch version).

As expected, the new LCD HDTVs from AOC are quite affordable, compared to other models available on the market. For example, the 19 inch L19W861 sells for just around 300 US dollars, while the 32-inch version can be purchased for about $600, which is a really affordable price point, by all accounts.

This is ridiculous. Since when has having a 26" or 32" TV been the bane of 'tiny' apartment dwellers??? The problem with this country is our addiction to excess. It makes me sick. Some of us don't have to have giant houses, giant TVs and giant expenses to feel good about ourselves. I love my SMALL house. It's quaint, cute, and is everything we need. And our new AOC is GREAT! I wouldn't trade it for any 54" monstrosity, nor the huge presumptive house in which it resides. Perhaps if some of these 'giant' addicts could learn some math or science, they would have greater purpose, too.
