When it comes to monitors and TV sets, we can’t but acknowledge the general trend, which has it that these display devices must provide a high-quality visual experience, while maintaining a sleek and lightweight form factor. This is the reason why most of the display manufacturers of today are continuously setting new standards by releasing increasingly thinner LCD monitors or LCD TVs. On that note, AOC has recently rolled out a new V17 monitor that, aside from looking really good, is a 17-incher with less than 12 millimeters in depth.

“We are continuously working towards meeting and exceeding consumer demands in today's market, [because] they want smaller displays with bigger screens, better performance, but less impact on the environment and incredible styling,” said Product Manager AOC, Jerry Chou. “The V17 touches on each of these points as the first product in a line of incredibly thin monitors, and is leading the way for our WLED ultra-thin technology,” Chou added.

One of the most interesting features of the new monitor is that, despite its impressively thin form factor, it also has enough room space to incorporate a built-in webcam. The V17 will ultimately prove to be an ideal choice for those computer users that spend a considerable amount of time chatting with their friends over the Internet.

In addition to the built-in webcam, the new V17 from AOC also boasts built-in speakers, thus allowing for a smaller impact on a user’s desktop space. The only probable downside to AOC's latest LCD is that it's only a 17-inch one, given that most users are likely to prefer a 20-inch or a 22-inch monitor.

The V17 from AOC certainly packs a relatively large number of features in a 17-inch form factor. However, you will have to wait until later this year before you have the chance to purchase one. Price-wise, you are looking at a MSRP of $199.99.
