After Advanced Micro Devices finally made the official introduction of its two six-core central processing units, Maingear was among the first to proclaim its support for the processors by launching a pair of systems based on them. Coming in two baseline configurations, the new series of desktops is known as the Vybe Limited Edition and merges together decent- to high-quality graphics and memory capacities in hopes of providing mainstream and high-end users with enough horsepower for years to come.

Coming at a price of $1,299, one of the Vybe configurations is based on the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor, the stronger of the Phenoms, clocked at 3.2GHz (3.6GHz in Turbo Core). This chip is backed up by a 6GB DDR3-133MHz memory and a Western Digital Caviar Black SATA 6G hard disk drive with a storage space of 640GB. The system also boasts WiFi connectivity, a DVD burner and, of course, a graphics card with DirectX 11 capabilities. The exact model is the ATI Radeon HD 5830.

The second configuration is better suited for those on a budget. Priced at $999, this particular Vybe has a Phenom II X6 1055T at its heart (2.8GHz, 3.3GHz in Turbo Core). The total memory available is of 4GB and the storage solution is the same as the one used by its sibling. This PC also features WiFi and a DVD burner and DirectX 11 graphics. However, the actual card employed, Radeon HD 5670, is somewhat less powerful.

“AMD’s latest technology enables us to provide gamers and content creators with extremely capable 6 core performance at a price point that wasn’t feasible up until now,” Wallace Santos, CEO and founder of Maingear, said. “We’re now able to reach a new segment of the market with a value priced rig that delivers highly advanced computing power.”

Both Vybe gaming systems use a power supply of 500W, have motherboards based on the AMD 890GX chipset and run the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. They can be purchased directly from their maker's official website.
