The release date of AMD's upcoming desktop Zambezi processors, based on the Bulldozer architecture, has been the target of many debates in the last couple of months and these tend to continue as a recently leaked slide seems to suggest that the first FX-series CPUs will be launched on June 7.

The slide appears to be taken out of a Gigabyte presentation that details the company's AM3+ motherboards and was posted online by the ATI-Forum website.

At the bottom of the image, there's a note that states AMD's FX-series processors will be launched on June 7 2011, during the Computex fair.

While this may seem as a confirmation of the release date of Zambezi, there are quite a few things wrong with the slide presented as, for starters, Computex will close its gates on June 4, three days before the date mentioned in the document.

Furthermore, the whole document looks like it was hastily put together by chopping different images and then adding a low-res Gigabyte logo to make the whole thing look slightly more official, so this should be taken with a huge grain of salt for now.

Zambezi is the code-name used by AMD for designating its upcoming high-performance desktop processors based on the Bulldozer architecture, and the CPUs will feature between four and eight processing cores as well as up to 8MB of Level 3 cache memory.

For starters, AMD plans to release only four such SKUs and all of these will feature the second version of the Turbo Core technology, a dual-channel integrated 1866MHz memory controller, and an unlocked multiplier, since they will come as Black Edition parts.

The processors are built using the 32nm manufacturing process and are compatible with all AM3+, and select AM3, motherboards.

Previous reports suggested that the Zambezi FX-series processors will launch on June 11. (via HardwareLuxx)
