The game is on, will we see any survivors after the flood? Maybe we will? who knows. On the 22nd of April, Intel is slated to drop the prices for its Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Duo offerings; this comes in the light of AMD's launch of their first quad-core processor, codenamed Barcelona, in mid-2007.

On the Intel side, price cuts will include E6300, E6400, E6420, E6000 and E6700 processors from its Core 2 Duo series, and the Q6600 quad-core processor with speculated 20-40% decreases from current prices. AMD is expected on the 9th of April to lower the prices on its Athlon 64 series of processors, in order to keep them in line with Intel's models. This time around they have a much more realistic approach to the prices they are going to ask for their processors.

According to xbitlabs.com, the prices on both sides will be lower, with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ being said to have a $229 price tag starting from April 9th, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ will be at $179, AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ at $169, AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ at $159, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ at $129, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ at $115, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ at just $99, AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ going for $79, and the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ at $69.

AMD's prices were thought in such a way as to represent a realistic competition, price and performance wise, to Intel's processors. And the models from Intel will have lower prices, as follows: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 $316, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 $224, Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 $183, Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 $163, Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 $133, Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 $113, and below that we'll have the Intel Pentium D935 for $84, and Intel Pentium D925 at $74.
