The chips are expected to buoy AMD's revenues in the fourth quarter

We knew that AMD's Trinity series of desktop processors would arrive next month (October 2012), but we did not know for sure the day.

Useful information can sometimes be found in unlikely places though. In this case, the exact date (October 1) was disclosed (confirmed really, if we are to take into account a past rumor) in a report dealing with the likelihood of Trinity boosting AMD's revenue in Q4.

The Trinity chips are detailed here and will be very cheap, compared to Intel CPUs.

There will be some Athlon and Sempron units based on the technology too, though without the Radeon HD 7000 integrated graphics.

At any rate, we only have to wait about two weeks at this point. Hopefully, the 32nm-based chips will really make a strong and lasting impression on the market.

Now we just need to wait for an update on the tablet and ultrathin platforms.
