Graphics for professional users

Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices has just announced the availability of its latest mobile graphics accelerator, designed for the professional market segment, the ATI FirePro M7740. The chip maker also announced that the new graphics solution would be available for users of Dell Precision M6400 Mobile Workstations, designed to provide enthusiasts with excellent graphics performance, coupled with RAID storage and memory scalability. As for AMD's new professional mobile graphics solution, users will be offered support for the latest APIs and graphics technologies.

“AMD knows that flawless execution and best-in-class performance is a priority for professionals who rely on workstations for their livelihood,” said Janet Matsuda, senior director, AMD Professional Graphics. “The Dell Precision M6400 utilizes the ATI FirePro M7740’s powerful GPU and 1GB frame buffer, to help accelerate software applications and improve productivity, while giving professionals the assurance of superior reliability that comes with having certified drivers and professional-grade ATI FirePro hardware.”

With the launch of the new AMD graphics solution, users will be provided with the opportunity to choose between NVIDIA's Quadro FX GPUs and the new ATI FirePro M7740 from AMD. The card itself will be available with a frame buffer of 1GB GDDR5, also featuring support for DisplayPort and Dual-link DVI outputs. In addition, as you might expect from a professional mobile GPU, the FirePro M7740 also comes with support for a range of CAD applications.
