Earlier this month, the CEO of Maingear, Wallace Santos, made an entry into his personal blog, stating that his company received a sample of an upcoming high-end AMD processor, suggestively dubbed Phenom II TWKR Black Edition. There were only a few details on the said processor, with Maingear's CEO promising to follow up with more information as soon as he would get to see it in action. On that note, Wallace has kept his word and has just updated his blog page with another post on the much-hyped AMD processor.

“As I was getting ready to post this information up this morning, I received an e-mail from AMD asking me not to disclose any information detailing the speeds and test results of the TWKR chip. I apologize for this teaser post instead. It seems that AMD does have a plan for this product after all,” Wallace says in his updated blog post.

As it turns out, AMD fans and overclocking enthusiasts will have something to wait for, as the Sunnyvale, California-based chip maker is reportedly cooking something new for them. Unfortunately, as Mr. Wallace points out, the exact technical specifications on the new solution are yet to be unveiled, as AMD has its own plans with the much-anticipated product. However, there are some things overclocking enthusiasts can expect. According to the aforementioned blog post, the AMD TWKR 42 Black Edition processor can overclock higher than the recently announced Phenom II 955 BE CPU.

Maingear's testing platform includes an ASUS Crosshair III board with 4GB of Kingston KHX-12800D3K2/4G memory and a CoolIT Domino A.L.C. Cooling unit. More details on the high-end AMD processor are expected to be made available after June 30th, according to Wallace. In addition, Maingear fans will have a chance at winning one of these processors for their own PCs, with details to be delivered soon.
