Creating a viable server system is just half the work needed to secure a good place on the data center market. Software support and client endorsement is the other.

Advanced Micro Devices, seeking to establish itself in this segment, created the SM15000-XE microserver in collaboration with SeaMicro.

We've actually known about the system since back in September, when we remarked on how strange it was that a computer co-developed by AMD would have Intel CPU support.

But we digress. The reason AMD is raising the metaphorical fuss now is the recognition that the microserver has gained.

Long story short, the system has gained Citrix Ready certification, meaning it can run Citrix XenServer 6.

The Citrix Application Delivery Infrastructure is widely acknowledged as one of the fastest and secure server virtualization technologies. With this, AMD should have no problem moving forward, a fortuitous reprieve knowing the 10% financial drop and rumored layoffs of 30%.
