Advanced Micro Devices may not intend to release the desktop Richland accelerated processing units before June 2013, but motherboard makers already have platform sets ready.

It is safe to say that the Richland series will have a better support than Trinity.

Not that the current-generation APUs were short of compatible motherboards, but the platforms weren't so abundant in comparison.

To illustrate, Biostar already has a bunch of socket FM2 models ready for them.

Part of the reason for better support is that the socket isn't changing, allowing Trinity-aimed mainboards to receive Richland after just a BIOS and Driver update (they enable HD 8000 graphics compatibility and DDR3-2133).

We've included the specifications of the AMD Fusion S-Series Richland APUs in the table above, for your convenience. Both dual-core and quad-core processors are included in the list. A nice gesture on Biostar's part really.
