The newcomer is no better detailed than the other though, unfortunately

You would think that AMD's OEM partners would wait until the company actually released a new GPU and the video card based on it before doing anything themselves, but that's not what's happening with the Radeon R9 285.

Granted, it's not like Sapphire, HIS, or others have actually launched the Radeon R9 285 video board, and AMD hasn't formally released it either, or the Tonga GPU it is based on. Reports and photos of them have made it to the Internet though.

Apparently, XFX is preparing one, just like the others. And once again, it is a custom-cooled device with a dual-fan cooling module and 2 GB of GDDR5 VRAM.

The specs are the same as for the others: 32 CUs (compute units) and 2,048 SPs (stream processors), 256-bit interface, 2 GB of GDDR5 VRAM.

Well, the compute unit and stream processor counts haven't been confirmed, but they're the best assumption for now. The cooler technology is called Double Dissipation, or DD for short, for obvious reasons.

Unfortunately, the price and availability date of the XFX Radeon R9 285 graphics card are no better known than for the others. It hopefully won't take more than a few days for the Tonga GPU and all graphics adapters based on it to be released properly.
