One of AMD's most anticipated product launches for this year is the much-rumored Radeon HD 5970, a dual-GPU graphics card that is to deliver a significant performance boost over current generation of cards. There has been a decent number of reports on the Internet, regarding the bits and pieces of the upcoming card, detailing the card's technical specifications and pricing information. We decided to make a round-up on some of the latest rumors, in attempt to create an image of what AMD has prepared for the near future. In addition, the article makes sense, as the most recent rumors claim the card will be out on November 18th, just two days from now.

Previously rumored as the Radeon HD 5870 x2, the new card will be branded as the Radeon HD 5970, boasting an impressive number of 3200 Stream processors. According to Fudzilla, the card comes with two RV870 GPUs, clocked at 725MHz and coupled with 1GB of GDDR5 memory, per GPU, for a total of 2GB of memory, clocked at 4000MHz, as mentioned in a recent article on vr-zone.

In addition to that, the card comes with a maximum board power of 294W, with the performance capability to reach 4.64TFLOPs of GPU compute. The aforementioned vr-zone article also gives out the other technical specifications of the card, packing 40 SIMD units, 160 TMU, and 64 ROP in total, all of which add up to enable the above-stated performance potential.

To round things up, the card is just days away from its official debut, according to Fudzilla, meaning that some of these details could be real. Moreover, it appears that the MSRP for the much-anticipated card has hit the Internet, with sources claiming that the dual-GPU card will be priced at US$599, rather prohibitive even for computer enthusiasts.
