A monster of great strength; 60 FPS at 4K on one single card

A monster came out of AMD's woodwork last night during the launch of the new Fury series and people got scared.

And, yes, it's not just A Fury, not just A Fiji GPU; it's double the dose of both on one single PCB, one single Dual-GPU graphic card.

It's amazing, and not only does it look amazing (check out that Project Quantum case), but it's rumored to have an insane performance, over 17 Teraflops of computational power. It means that only this monster is the first to be able to handle 60 FPS 4K gaming like it’s nothing, without having your neighbor and his dog think you're doing NASA tests in your living room.

Shown at the PC Gaming Show yesterday by AMD CEO Lisa Su, the Project Quantum packs dual processing power of two 8.6 teraflops Fury X's into one massive 17+ teraflops supercomputer. The funny thing is that this is in small factor shape, the size of a console, while being nine times more powerful than a PS4 and 13 times more powerful than an Xbox One!

And yet when people think double, they think double PCBs, in SLI maybe, but no. Here you can see where the double is at . On one single PCB, double chips. The amount of power that single PCB has to handle is mind boggling, and it may cause some serious reaction from Nvidia no doubt.

Green team is worried

It's scandalous as it's ridiculous, and without knowing any details, except that it will have 8k-bit memory interface and 8192 Stream Processors, this monster simply dwarfs Nvidia's Titan through sheer brutality!

Although people would want to see some benchmarks or having it run some 4K applications, AMD was refrained about doing so as it's quite obvious it is still in tests, being in the final prototyping phase. However, AMD has announced it will be launched in autumn 2015 when the beast is unleashed. The price, however, will be astronomical.

Yes, a Balrog has been born wielding red fire and metal; question is, will Nvidia stand up to the challenge? Chances are they actually might.
