In looks like the AMD-Intel lawsuit proves to be an extraordinary source of profit for the people at Advanced Micro Devices, thus infirming the opinions according to which this legal action could have driven the company into bankruptcy.
Thus, after Fujitsu-Siemens
announced last week that the AMD processors will be included in their future systems, now it looks like Hewlett-Packard will announce the launching of a new line of notebooks from the Compaq NX series, fitted with AMD Turion 64 processors.
If the rumors regarding this launch prove to be right, then AMD has the chance of breaking through to the business notebook's market, a high volume market up until now dominated by the Intel Centrino package.
The main advantage of the new products will be their price, because it's a well known fact that AMD's processors are generally less expensive than their Intel counterparts, while offering similar performances. HP's machines would be targeting the small and medium business markets with Taiwanese contract manufacturer Compal developing the notebooks for HP.
