Even though AMD is getting ready to launch its first high-performance chips based on the Bulldozer architecture, its Phenom II line of CPUs will also continue to grow as the company is expected to ship its fastest dual-core processor to date, the Phenom II X2 570 Black Edition in the coming months.

The clock speed will be set at 3.5GHz and Phenom II X2 570 is part of AMD's Black Edition series of processors meaning it features an unlocked multiplier that should help improve overclocking.

Just as its predecessors, the new chip will be based on the Callisto core and packs 512KB of L2 cache per core, 6MB of Level 3 cache memory, a 4GHz HyperTransport link as well as SSE4a and virtualization support.

In addition, the chips also features a dual-channel integrated memory controller that is compatible with DDR3 1066MHz memory and its TDP is rated at 80W, as it's the case with all the AMD's Callisto based CPU models.

According to Donanim Haber, the 570 BE will retail for less than 100 Euro.

Right now, AMD's fastest dual-core CPU is the 3.3GHz Phenom II X2 560 Black Edition that was launched at the beginning of October 2010 and retails for around 93 Euro.

The Phenom II X2 570 Black Edition is expected in the April-August timeframe and should be accompanied by at least one other Phenom II processor, the quad-core 980 BE.

Both of these will use the 45-nanometer DSL SOI technology and the processors are compatible with regular AM3 and AM3+ motherboards as well as with the older AM2/AM2+ boards.

On June 11, AMD is expected to launch the first desktops processors based on the Bulldozer architecture that will feature improved IPC, up to eight processing cores and Turbo Core dynamic overclocking support.
