About a month after it was listed for pre-order on Amazon and Newegg, MSI's WindPad W110 tablet, that pairs together an AMD Fusion accelerated processing unit with Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, has now started shipping in the US, where is priced at $599.
The MSI WindPad W110 was built with business people in mind and it sports a 10-inch IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels as well as an AMD Z-01 accelerated processing unit.
This is AMD first APU designed specifically for
tablet use and it includes two x86 processing cores that run at 1GHz, as well as a Radeon HD 6250 graphics unit, all inside a 5.9W TDP.
In addition to AMD's processor, the WindPad tablet also includes up to 4GB DDR3 of memory, 802.11 b/g/n wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as an SSD to provide users with 32 or 64 GB of storage space.
Front and rear 1.3MP webcams are available as standard and these accompany a slew of other features such as an SD card slot, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI video output, and LAN connectivity.
The operating system of choice is Windows 7 Home Premium which is accompanied by a series of
MSI enhancements as well as by a TPM module used for encrypting the data stored on the tablet's drives.
MSI's tablet is available in “Metallic Brown,” weighs 3.3 lbs, is 0.61-inch thick, and the included 2-cell 4200mAh battery can provide up to six hours of runtime.
The WindPad110W can be purchased from Newegg or ExcaliberPC whom have it in stock, while on Amazon this is still in pre-order mode. Pricing is set st $599, which makes it just as expensive as the Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Tab 32GB or the
