Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices is expected to refresh its line of 45nm-based Phenom II processors with the introduction of at least three new models, the Phenom II X4 955, 945 and 925. According to a number of leaked details that have surfaced on the Internet recently, the chip maker is planning their release for later this month. On that note, the Phenom II X4 925 has been listed as part of HP Pavilion desktop PC, indicating that its official release could occur in the following days.

The Phenom II X4 925 will be the lowest-clocked processor from the three AMD is expected to announce, and it will boast a core speed of 2.8GHz, coupled with a 512KB L2 cache and 6MB of shared L3 cache of 6MB, according to the specifications that have been made available on the page of a German online retailer. The processor will expand AMD's line of 45nm quad-core processors and provide users with an AM3-ready CPU that can deliver an impressive performance punch, at an affordable price tag.

The listed processor has been integrated into an HP Pavilion desktop that also boasts 4GB of DDR2 RAM, two 640GB SATA 7200RPM hard drives, one ATI Radeon HD4650 1GB graphics card and Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system. The processor isn't listed as an individual product, but the Pavilion desktop is priced at EUR 799, which could indicate that the new AM3 Phenom II X4 CPU will be priced similar to AMD's current Phenom II X4 920.

Aside from the 925, AMD is expected to unveil the 945, which will ultimately replace the current 940. Also, the new 3.2GHz 955, which was initially planned as the 950 with a core speed of 3.1GHz, will likely debut soon. Unfortunately, despite the numerous leaked details, we are still to find out the official release date for these CPUs.
