There has been a surge of details recently surfacing the Internet about an upcoming special-edition processor that could be launched by the world's second largest CPU vendor, Advanced Micro Devices. Part of the chip maker's line of Phenom II processors, the new CPU has been identified as the Phenom II Black Edition TWKR, a high-end solution designed for overclocking enthusiasts. Initially revealed by Mainger's CEO, Wallace Santos, the upcoming processor is bound to be officially launched by the Sunnyvale, California-based chip maker following a series of recently posted photos of said CPU.

There aren't many details available on the much-hyped chip, but the manufacturer looks ready to take the wraps off the particular CPU model. In an entry on his personal blog from last week Maingear's CEO hinted at the fact that the new solution could be revealed after June 30, as AMD asked him not to disclose any details on the aforementioned chip before said date. In addition, it looks like the company has already uploaded a couple of photos of the much-anticipated processor on its Flickr account, also hinting at a possible release tomorrow.

According to previous reports that surfaced on the Internet, the upcoming CPU could be clocked at 3.2GHz and provide overclocking enthusiasts with an impressive overclocking potential with speeds in the range of 7GHz, using extreme cooling solutions. Furthermore, Wallace Santos also hinted at the fact that this would be the highest-overclocking processor from AMD's current Phenom II lineup, so it's clear it will be a treat for high-performance enthusiasts.

What is yet to be establish is whether AMD plans to sell this new processor as a standalone product, or it will be part of a limited series of high-end CPUs, designed for a niche market. Nevertheless, according to the available details, the chip is close to an official debut.
