People still don't know whether they will be Sea or Volcanic Islands

Advanced Micro Devices is probably having a good laugh at our expense right now. Its next-generation graphics processing units are only a few weeks away, but we still don't know what they will be.

According to a report from Digitimes, which, in turn, picks up on whisperings of previous months, AMD will release the new generation in October.

That means that mass shipments will begin even later, near the end of the year, assuming AMD doesn't troll us and leave them for 2014.

Anyway, right now, the big question is still whether we're looking at Sea Islands or Volcanic Islands.

An odd thing to happen really. That no one would actually know this so near the launch date.

Digitimes says Hawaii will be the flagship, but it may end up being Curacao just as easily.
