Unlike Intel, which is waiting for SP1

Intel is not making the jump to Windows Vista. CEO Paul Otellini, revealed recently that Intel will wait for the first service pack to Windows Vista before they will upgrade to the latest operating system from Microsoft. There have been comments that associate irresponsibility with the world's largest processor company decision in relation to the upgrade cycle. In this regard, Intel has delivered a blow to Microsoft feeding the Windows SP1 myth. However, Otellini also allowed himself to be caught off guard, by commenting that he knows no organization that will adopt Windows Vista before SP1.

This example is illustrative of the Intel - Apple partnership. Intel may be protecting its collaboration with the Cupertino-based company over MacIntel. In this context, AMD is playing the same cards as Microsoft. And AMD together with the Redmond Company have been pushing Windows Vista together. It is only understandable that after AMD have teamed up with Microsoft, Windows Vista became a vital part of the Advanced Micro Dynamics DNA.

As of January 4, 2007, Henri Richard, Executive Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, urged all AMDers to prepare for the switch to Windows Vista. "Make no mistake, Windows Vista represents one of the most important technology milestones of this decade and the benefits it offers will reverberate for years to come," he explained his position.

In an internal memorandum, Richard went on to inform that AMD will be at the core of delivering the complete customer-centric Windows Vista experience in a way that even the company's most aggressive competitors will not be able to do. And with Intel postponing Vista upgrades until the second half of 2007 it is easy to see why.

"I am calling on all AMD employees to recognize and embrace everything Windows Vista represents and make it part of our DNA, to understand that we hold the keys to the kingdom in ways no one else does," Richard added.
