Launched at the end of June, AMD's Llano desktop processors haven't found their way in too many systems until now, but a Japanese computer builder is determined to change this and recently announced its first desktop powered by an AMD accelerated processing unit.

The name of the company, Mouse Computer, won't ring any bells for Western computer users, but in Japan it is well known for its desktop and notebook machines.

Dubbed the Lm-A520S, its latest creation is powered by an AMD A8-3850 accelerated processing unit, which happens to be the most powerful APU released until now by the Sunnyvale-based company.

This features four Husky x86 processing cores with 1MB of Level 2 cache each, a dual-channel DDR3 memory controller with support for speeds up to 1866MHz, a 16 PCI Express lanes on-board controller as well as Radeon HD 6550D integrated graphics.

Since the HD 6550D is AMD's fastest on-die GPU, this comes with 400 stream processors clocked at 600MHz.

Users who require more graphics performance than the A8-3850 can deliver could also opt to install an additional AMD graphics card that can be used together with the on-die GPU in an asymmetrical CrossFireX mode.

Unfortunately, Mouse Computer doesn't feature such a configuration for the Lm-A520S, so customers who want to take this route will have to upgrade the system for themselves.

Outside of AMD's fastest APU, the Lm-A520S can also be customized to include up to 8GB of DDR3-1333MHz memory (going for 1866MHz memory can improve the GPU speed by as much as 30%, but such an option isn't available), a 2TB hard drive and a DVD or a Blu-ray drive, which are all powered by a 300W PSU.

The Mouse Computer Lm-A520S retails for 49,980 Japanese Yen, which translates into about $616 US. (via Akihabara News)
