Now that AMD's A-Series Llano accelerated processing units have become official, notebook makers everywhere race to integrate these chips into their designs and one of the first companies to do so is HP, which introduced two new ProBook b-series notebooks models based on AMD's latest APUs.

These laptops are called the ProBook 6465b and ProBook 6565b, and share an almost identical feature set outside of the display size, as the first model sports an 14-inch panel, while the latter comes equipped with an 15.6-inch screen.

Despite the different diagonals, both of these displays feature an anti-glare finishing and HD resolution (1366x768), but HP allows its customers to opt for a 1600x900 screen if they so desire.

Users can also choose from one of the three AMD A-Series APUs available, the A8-3510MX, A6-3410MX or A4-3310MX, the first two offering quad processing cores while the latter sports a dual-core design.

All of the processors features support for AMD's Turbo Core 2.0 technology, which automatically adjusts the clock speed of the CPU depending on the load placed on its cores, as well as Radeon HD 6000-series integrated graphics.

AMD's APUs can be seconded by as much as 16GB of DDR3-1333 system memory and storage options include 7200RPM hard drives with up to 750GB in size, a 320GB self-encrypting drive or a 128GB SSD.

Another 7200RPM HDD, up to 500GB in capacity, can be installed inside a second SATA drive bay, or users can opt for populating this with an optical drive.

Connectivity options include 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a 56K v.92 modem, DisplayPort, eSATA and VGA ports, and the HP notebooks can also be configured to feature mobile broadband support (HSPA+ or EV-DO/HSPA).

According to HP, the ProBook 6465b and ProBook 6565b notebooks are expected to become available on June 27, with prices starting at $679.
