Beema-powered products will start being available in Q2

If Intel is crafting low-power chips that should be bundled into tablets, AMD is following suit too. During the chip-maker's quarterly earnings call, the company announced the new low-voltage “Beema” processors.

The new chip architecture should arrive during the second quarter of 2014, being implemented in notebooks and tablets. Tablets featuring the low-power AMD Mullins chips are also in the pipe-line.

Fudzilla reports Beema chips will be available in dual-core and quad-core options and will bundle security-related feats. Furthermore, Beema processors are touted to be more efficient performance-wise than the AMD Kabini, they will end up replacing.

Beema are 28nm chips with 10W through 25W TDPs and will come boasting AMD Radeon graphics.

AMD hasn't announced the pricing specifications for its new chip architecture, but if they play their cards right, Beema could very well find a very cozy spot in the entry level to mainstream notebook market.

Of course, Beema won’t deliver the most powerful performance and you shouldn't expect it to. Compared to Kabini, there won't be any noticeable performance increase, but judging by the fact the latter was powerful enough to support Windows 8.1 at 1080p and handle current tasks, Beema shouldn't have a problem either.
