AMD appoints an ex-IBM employee as corporate vice president of silicon design for AMD. Jeff VerHeul joins AMD after 25 successful years with IBM. In his most recent leadership role at IBM, VerHeul led the creation and profitable growth of IBM's successful Engineering and Technology Services business.
AMD's recently formed Microprocessor Solutions Sector (MSS ), is a new division that combines the company's microprocessor businesses under a single, more
customer-focused organization.
"Jeff brings a wealth of experience in managing large, complex design activities at both the chip and systems level," said Dirk Meyer, president and Chief Operating Officer, Microprocessor Solutions Sector, AMD. "His technical leadership skills, business experience and customer skills will serve AMD well as we continue to broaden our customer base and work to create innovative solutions that enable their success."
In his new role, VerHeul will lead the development of all future AMD computing solutions, including silicon roadmaps and design efforts across all of AMD's global engineering sites, ensuring AMD's future products are aligned with evolving customer needs. VerHeul strengthens AMD's ability to bring the benefits of AMD64 processor technology, the gold standard in 64-bit computing, to a wider range of customers and markets around the world.
