AMD has inaugurated today their new engineering facility in Bangalore. The silicon design, platform research and development facility has been presented by the company's CEO and chairman, Hector Ruiz. The new headquarters
have been built as the company business increased in India. The current number of employees required extensive research facilities.

The new 52,000 square-foot center would be ready in the near future and will be enough to accommodate the current team and provide further space as the business evolves. The AMD center features state-of-the-art office space design by most up to-date architectural criteria in order to provide the employees a maximum of comfort and the necessary conditions for their research and development projects.

"Our engineering employees in India play a critical role in AMD's global design network, and this new R&D center gives them the world-class equipment and resources they need to excel," said Ruiz. "In AMD's quest to become the technology partner of choice for the industry, this facility is vital to help us design and deliver industry-leading solutions specifically tailored to the needs of our customers in India, and for all our customers worldwide."

AMD's Indian subsidiary is currently developing the company's first 45-nanometer quad-core microprocessor also known as Shanghai. Moreover, the Bangalore team is participating into design testing and the optimization of the new processor. The same team has played an essential role in the development of AMD's first quad-core microprocessor - Barcelona.

Alok Ohrie, Managing Director, AMD India said, "In a short span of six years of presence in India, AMD has posted marketshare gains as well as significant contributions to global R&D efforts. AMD India's expansion demonstrates the confidence our corporation has in the delivery capabilities of the India R&D teams."

The older facility will still remain property of AMD and will be used for marketing and administrative purposes.
