Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices has recently updated its line of professional graphics accelerators with the introduction of new GPUs that are capable of providing business users with an increased performance in an affordable package. With the launch, the chip maker has also introduced its latest FirePro V7750, a GPU designed for professionals working in various domains, including digital content and other scientific fields. On that note, AMD has announced today that its entire line of ATI FirePro professional GPUs has been included in some all-new OEM workstations, designed for engineering, digital content creation and science professionals.

“Workstation users, who appreciate the value of a combined solution, demand reliable performance and systems that operate in harmony with leading applications,” said Janet Matsuda, senior director, AMD Professional Graphics. “With ATI FirePro professional graphics, Dell and Lenovo are well equipped to meet the demands of professionals by accelerating their software application freeing people to create and innovate rather than wait for their computer to catch up.”

The announcement is essentially meant to demonstrate the success of AMD's FirePro line as leading system vendors are offering these GPUs in their latest offerings. According to AMD, the FirePro V3750, V5700 and V8700 are now available inside the new Dell Precision T3500, T5500 and T7500 workstations, while the FirePro V3700, V7750 and again the V5700 are available inside Lenovo's ThinkStation D20 and S20 workstations.

These professional graphics solutions are meant to provide performance-support for operating environments such as Microsoft's successful and aging Windows XP, Windows Vista, but also for Linux-based systems. In addition, AMD has said that it's working with independent software vendors (ISV) such as Autodesk and Dassault Systemes SolidWorks Corp. to enable their applications to take advantage of AMD's Radeon GPUs for performance optimization.

“The Dell Precision T7500, T5500 and T3500 and ATI FirePro graphics deliver an excellent balance of value and performance to workstation professionals,” said Greg Weir, senior manager, Dell Product Group. “Dell, the world’s leading supplier of workstations, is working with ATI to deliver workstation solutions that are reliable and scalable.”
