14 DAY TRIAL // Earlier this month, Advanced Micro Devices announced its decision to sell and lease the “Lone Star Campus” located at 7171 Southwest Parkway in Austin, Texas.
Basically, the deal transfers ownership of the site in exchange for quick cash ($164 million / 128 million Euro), but AMD gets to keep using the land and buildings as before.
AMD will pay a lease for 12 years to Lantana HP, Ltd. An extension will be optional after the time has elapsed.
The generated proceeds will show up in AMD's next financial statement, set to be reported on April 18. It will be the statement for the first quarter of 2013.
It isn't the greatest sum we've ever seen, but it should help the company stay in the black until later this year, when a new CPU and, afterwards, GPU series, arrive.
