The latest news on the web reveals a few more details on AMD's forthcoming Dragon platform, the logo it will bear, to be more precise. The logo for the company's platform shows a dark dragon with red glowing eyes holding the AMD Fusion badge. Moreover, the news also unveils the slogan the company will use for the platform, namely “Fusing technology with strength”.

Advanced Micro Devices has accustomed us with hiding most of its plans from the media, as many of you know, only allowing for tiny bits of information to surface every now and then. Thanks to the info that leaks to the web from time to time, we can take a glimpse at the company's future plans, and the image we have on the upcoming Dragon platform, which we wrote about a few days ago, starts to be more vivid.

As we announced last week, the next-to-come AMD platform would include an AMD Radeon HD 4800 Series Graphics Card, an AMD 790GX Chipset powered motherboard, as well as an AMD Phenom II Processor. The third has been know until now under the code-name Deneb, but the company officially announced a few days ago that the denomination of its 45nm desktop processor lineup would be Phenom II.

AMD has high expectations from its Dragon platform, which is said to be a replacement for the company's existing high-end Spider platform. The performance gains from Spider to Dragon are said to rise up to 280 percent when it comes to gaming, while remaining in the 20-40 percent when office and productivity applications are involved. We should mention that the upcoming 45nm Phenom II processors are also said to deliver 30 to 50 percent more power efficiency.

Undoubtedly, the Dragon platform will offer a lot of performance and power improvements over AMD's previous products. And, as the logo and slogan suggest, the Sunnyvale manufacturer is confident that it will make a stand on the market.
