Two of them are quad-core units, but one is a dual core

So far, not too many tablets running an AMD accelerated processing unit-based SoC have shown up, but CES 2014 hasn't really started, and it's likely that most of the action is reserved for MWC 2014 anyway, hence why only now the specs of three Kabini chips are coming out.

Kabini is the codename under which Advanced Micro Devices is marketing its new generation of mobile system-on-chip devices.

They're supposed to be used in Windows 8 and Android tablets, 2-in-1 devices and laptops, but so far, only an MSI notebook based on the series has appeared, and not much else.

However, given that the A4-5100, E1-2200 and E2-3800 low-power models are only now getting detailed, it can be assumed that MWC 2014, set for late February, is when most AMD-based slate designs will show up, not CES 2014.

First off, the AMD E1-2200 is the only dual-core chip of this trio, and works at 1.05 GHz CPU clock, plus 300 MHz GPU clock.

Speaking of the graphics processing unit, it is a Radeon HD 8210.

The SoC also had DDR3-1333 memory support and a TDP (thermal design power) of 9 W. It's why it will probably be used in tablets the most.

The other two units are both quad-core processors with 2 MB cache memory (L2), DDR3-1600 MHz RAM and 15W TDP, but the rest differs.

The A5-5100 is the faster of the pair, with 1.55 GHz frequency and Radeon HD 8330 graphics operating at 497 MHz.

Finally, the E2-3800 has a 1.3 GHz clock and Radeon HD 8280 graphics at 450 MHz.

The Mobile World Congress 2014 edition will take place between February 24 - 27. No doubt that there will be a bunch of NVIDIA Tegra-based and Intel-powered slates there too, as well as devices with Qualcomm or Samsung processors, so AMD has its work cut out for it.
