Trying to build up a little more anticipation before it finally takes the wraps off its next generation of Radeon HD 5800 series of graphics cards, the Sunnyvale, California-based graphics chip maker has recently demonstrated a new technology that will be supported by the aforementioned series of GPUs, the Radeon HD 5800 series. Dubbed ATI Eyefinity, the new solution is said to provide users with a new visual experience on their computer systems, by implementing a new, multi-display technology that will be made available on the upcoming line of DirectX-capable ATI Radeon GPU Family.

“Today’s revelation of the new experience made possible by PCs powered by AMD technology has been a long time coming,” Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager, Products Group, AMD, said. “Today marks the culmination of more than a million hours of design innovation from thousands of AMD engineers over the last few years, and the commitment of more than 100,000 channel partners. Today AMD marks a revolution in the PC experience powered by the most powerful processor in the world. More important though, is the experience we’re giving consumers today, making the PC more empowering, engaging and intuitive than ever before.”

According to the Sunnyvale, California-based chip maker, the new technology should provide gaming and professional users with a more realistic visual experience, thanks to the ability to connect up to six ultra-high-definition displays to a single computer system, powered by AMD's platform. The ATI Eyefinity technology takes advantage of AMD's next-generation graphics cards to enable up to 12 times the 1080p HD resolution, which, according to AMD, approaches the eye-definition optical clarity.

AMD has further stated that it is collaborating with the likes of Samsung Electronics, which is currently working on the development of new display solutions that boast a thinner bezel, enabling a more immersive ATI Eyefinity experience. Samsung will be the first to announce such products to the market, providing customers with a choice for creating their own scalable display matrix.
