The company will celebrate 30 years of graphics and gaming technology

We know that Advanced Micro Devices won't have much, if any, presence at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany. We also know that its upcoming collection of consumer video cards won't be out for another month at least.

However, the corporation may decide to unveil something major, or at least new and unusual, this Saturday, on August 23.

Why do I think that? Because that's when the Sunnyvale, California-based company will host its 30 Years of Graphics and Gaming commemoration webcast.

The webcast will be hosted by AMD Chief Gaming Scientist Richard Huddy. Anyone will be able to access it on the AMD Twitch channel, and later as a replay on YouTube.

The webcast will start on Aug. 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM EDT / 9:00 AM CDT / 7:00 AM PDT. I can't guarantee that AMD will really unveil some new product, but if it does, say, launch a video board, it would give it a nice head start compared to NVIDIA's GeForce 800 Maxwell line.

Also, if you're a history lover or just an AMD fan, the webcast will summarize most of the big achievements that AMD's graphics division (formerly known as ATI Technologies before being acquired) pulled off over the years. The Mantle API will probably have a place of honor.
