Not just for current but also the previous-gen chips

You might have seen the report about Advanced Micro Devices having reportedly cut the prices of its A-Series Accelerated Processing Units, or APUs for short.

The news came out just a few days ago, and has since caused many a hopeful thought to bloom in the hearts of man.

Dramatics aside, I've since received confirmation from a company rep that the price cuts are really happening, and that the previous-generation A-Series chips are getting tweaked as well.

This way, people looking to build a mainstream or even performance-grade system have a good reason to think twice before just jumping on the Intel Core i3 bandwagon. AMD's APUs are pretty good after all, and their integrated GPUs are superior to any HD graphics Core-series chips possess.

Of course, if you're going to buy an add-in video card, the integrated graphics won't matter, but that's alright. As CPUs, the AMD chips are a fine match for Core i3 CPUs anyway,  and even some Core i5 chips, no matter how much some would like to keep people from knowing.

See the attached photo for all the new pricing and benchmark info. If nothing else, it should give DIY market customers something to think about.
