AMD has decided to craft a special driver for several cards

The recently released AMD Catalyst Graphics Driver 13.1 that resolved an issues of the producer’s new graphics adapters, did not include support for the Radeon HD 2000, 3000 and 4000 video card series. Now, the present Catalyst 13.1 Legacy update will set things right.  

According to the changelog, the 13.1 Legacy driver does not intend to boost performance or add new features, but resolves specific application issues and adds critical updates. Also, it offers support for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, for both 32- and 64-bit architectures.

If applied, this package will install AMD Display driver version 8.97.100.7, OpenCL build 10.0.937.2, as well as the producer’s Catalyst Control Center (CCC) 2012.1116.1514.27190.

However, bear in mind that, if you are running Microsoft’s Windows XP platform, OpenCL will not be available through this release, while the Catalyst Control Center version will be is 2012.1116.1444.26409.

As for applying this release, simply save and run the downloadable package, wait for all files required for the upgrade to be extracted, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete installation.
