Globalfoundries will be the one actually producing the accelerated processing unit

The AMD Kaveri accelerated processing unit series has only just made it to the market, but rumors about the 2015-bound Carrizo have been around since 2013, and even earlier. Now we have the latest.

And it's not an altogether encouraging one, because the rumor from SemiAccurate says that the APU series will be manufactured on the 28nm process.

That's the same process used for Kaveri and all of AMD's and NVIDIA’s existing graphics processing units.

Obviously, little good will come of it, considering that AMD was supposed to move to 20nm by next year. Especially since Globalfoundries is supposed to handle production.

Carrizo will have its own integrated GPU, like all APUs, and several Excavator CPU cores.

Not sure if the 28nm nodes of Kaveri and Carrizo are fundamentally different or not. Most likely, since Carrizo promises a TDP of 65W (Kaveri high-end APUs are 95W products).
