With A Great Big World’s “Say Something” still climbing the charts, it’s no wonder organizers asked the two musicians from the indie group to perform at the 2013 American Music Awards as well. Above is their amazing duet with Christina Aguilera.

Though a brilliant vocalist, Aguilera does have the tendency to over-sing, something with which even her diehard fans agree. On “Say Something,” she manages to rein in her powerful voice to the point where she renders it fragile, vulnerable and extremely emotional.

This is definitely one of her most hauntingly beautiful performances of all times and, for an artist also known as “The Voice” from even before she was on the NBC show of the same name, that’s saying a lot.

“Say Something” is a gorgeous sad ballad but, if you thought it can’t get any sadder or more gorgeous than the studio version now out, you clearly need to see the video above, of the live performance at the AMAs.

Grab a couple of hankies while you’re at it and, of course, enjoy!
