AOL announced recently the availability of AIM for Windows Mobile 2.0 Beta. Mobile phone users who would like to enjoy all the features that the desktop PC version of the solution can offer while still benefiting from mobility can now download the 2.0.9.1 beta version of the application to see what novelties have been included in the new release.

To give you a heads up, we should mention the new Lifestream feature that enables users to keep tabs with what is happening with their contacts. The Lifestream tab has been added to the Buddy List, and it comes rather convenient, the company says. In addition, the new Me tab comes to complement the Lifestream feature and enables users to see when contacts leave comments or say they like one's updates.

The new Lifestream functionality comes with a series of features of its own, including the ability to put AIM activities as status updates, or to add Facebook and Twitter services so that one can easily stay connected with friends on other networks. Moreover, users will also have the possibility to update their settings through simple syncing via lifestream.aim.com.

Other features brought by the new version of AIM include the ability to add YouTube or Delicious accounts, the ability to leave comments (though the developers note that all people involved in commenting should have the beta version of the application), or to read comments made by friends (the beta version of AIM is a must once again).

In addition to the new features, AIM for Windows Mobile 2.0.9.1 beta also comes around with a series of bug fixes, as well as with a variety of performance improvements. Both Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 operating systems are supported.
