Even though, supposedly, SSDs are easier to render thinner than HDDs, the drives that got the most fame for being super-thin are fingernail-thick 1.8-inch platter spinners. ADATA wants to change that.

Of course, that's not counting the mSATA and M.2 form factors, which make SSDs similar in looks and build to DDR3 memory modules.

Anyway, ADATA has revealed the DashDrive Elite SE720, a portable USB 3.0 solid-state drive just 8.9 mm thick, which is the same as 0.35 inches.

The stainless steel case was used before, in the DashDrive Elite HE720 portable hard drive.

The SSD is faster than HDDs of course, at 400 MB/s read and 300 MB/s write speeds.

One touch backup, a bright blue LED status indicator and compatibility with Windows To Go are available. So far, though, we only know of a 128 GB capacity, and no price has been provided.
