ADATA has just announced that the company has expanded its product portfolio with two new series of high-performance solid state drives based on SandFoce’s popular 6Gbps SSD processors. The new drives were released into the XPG SX900 and Premier Pro SP900 series.

The XPG SX900 (Xtreme Performance Gear) SSD line includes four storage solutions with capacities ranging from 64GB to 512GB, all using the standard 2.5-inch form factor characteristic to most other SSDs out there.

At the heart of every unit there is a second generation SandForce SF-2281controller featuring native support for the SATA 6Gbps interface, which is paired with an optimized firmware.

According to ADATA, this combo enables the drives to reach sequential read and write transfer speeds of 550MB/s and 530 MB/s, respectively, while the maximum random write performance is rated at 85K IOPS (input/output operations per second).

The Premier Pro SP900 also boasts impressive performance numbers, but also offers a competitive price advantage to those looking to upgrade. Maximum sequential read and write speeds are 550/ 520 MB per second, with maximum random 4k write speeds of 85,000 IOPS.

As far as the available capacities are concerned, these too start at 64GB, but unlike their faster siblings, top out at 256GB.

Just like is the case with all SandForce SF-2200-based drives, SSDs released into the XPG SX900 and Premier Pro SP900 series also include the DuraClass and DuraWrite technologies, as well as full support for the TRIM command.

No details regarding their pricing or availability date have been provided by ADATA.

When these SSDs reach the market, however, they will have to go head to head with other solutions based on the SF-2281 SATA 6Gbps controller such as OCZ’s Vertex 3 series or Kingston’s HyperX SSD, but also against Intel’s new 520-series drives.
