If the built-in Windows image viewer isn’t quite your cup of tea, you should definitely have a look at ACDSee, a classic yet very powerful solution that provides many more features beside basic photo viewing tools.

ACDSee 16.1 Build 88 was officially released today, bringing multiple bug fixes and performance improvements to the existing version.

While no release notes have been provided, users should download and install this new release as soon as possible, with improved performance and stability likely to be experienced after updating.

Of course, AcdSee works just fine on basically all Windows versions out there, including the ancient XP and the newly-launched Windows 8. Keep in mind that on Windows 8, no Metro version is available, so you can only use it on the desktop environment.
