After the Calciopoli scandal ended with the verdict made public on Friday night, all the teams are trying to recover. Well, all but AC Milan, who managed to stay in Serie A and, from what it seems might still be able to play in the UEFA Cup this season. I will try to write an article per team, for you to evaluate correctly the situation in which all 4 clubs involved in the scandal find themselves at the present time.

And I chose Milan first because they were the lucky ones. Of course, all the media & rivals in Italy rumored the verdict as being a Berlusconi-related one. As long as all 4 were involved in the scandal, all should pay the relegation price. Well, AC Milan proved to be, once again, stronger than that and managed to get a way with it. Of course, they will not be able to participate in this year's Champions League, but there are still good chances of seeing them in the UEFA Cup.

The Milanese club was sanctioned with a deduction of 44 points in the 2005/06 Serie A season. Fortunately for the "rosso neri", they had plenty of points from, so they didn't fell under the "relegation line". More, after the new European list for clubs, Empoli was the last club to qualify for UEFA. After the deduction, AC Milan is right behind the named squad in the standings. At the present time, Empoli are not licensed by UEFA and will not be able to play in the competition next season. And Milan might just squeeze in.

Actually, the only thing they lost this summer was Galliani and Shavchenko. The first got a one-year ban by the Calciopoli commission, while the latter got transferred to Chelsea before the World Cup. Milan will not be playing in Champions League but might continue their European road inside the UEFA competition. Of course the earnings will not be that high, but it will give them the chance of winning another European trophy.
