Almost three years after it closed its business, Abit announced that its Website would stop providing service for Abit-branded products on 28th of February, 2012.

“Remind: The website will stop providing service on 28th of February, 2012,” reads a notice placed right on the www.abit.com.tw front page.

Users who still have Abit motherboards, graphics cards or other products manufactured by the company are advised to download the BIOS files, drivers and manuals they might need before the Website is closed.

Abit was founded in the late 1980’s in Taiwan and it soon became one of the most important motherboard makers around, but in 2005 it started experiencing serious financial problems which led to them being acquired by Universal Scientific Industrial in May 2006.

This however didn’t last long as USI decided to close the brand on 31st March 2009.

Now, with the last warranties finally over, Abit is getting ready to fade completely out of the picture, a decision that is bound to take many enthusiasts on a walk down the memory lane.

Well site is still up at the moment, however its a bit out of date!!! 2008 stories, shame I loved ABIT tech however being an Asus fan I never owned a board, saying that though had quite a few ABIT boards give up on me over the last 10 years being a computer technician. Shame they lost out, when all others are doing so well...
