ABC reportedly warns America Ferrera to drop the diva attitude on the “Ugly Betty” set

At the end of last month, it was revealed that “Ugly Betty,” one of the most long-running and appreciated shows on ABC was perhaps in danger of being canceled, after it was put on hiatus for an undetermined period. Sources are now telling the media that things are really bad on the set of the show as well, with main star America Ferrera being the root of all trouble.

According to insiders speaking to the National Enquirer, America has been officially warned that when she gets back on the set of “Ugly Betty,” she’d better do so without her diva attitude. The warning is all the more serious as the show is reportedly “this close” to getting the axe from the network, so it’s best to avoid future problems like those that have marred relations on set because of Ferrera’s attitude.

“The brass is sick of dealing with the cast’s petty disagreements and infighting instigated by America’s diva behavior. They’re hoping the hiatus scares America straight and serves as a reality check that she’s not indispensable – and not the center of the universe. Everyone on ‘Ugly Betty’ needs a break – but America is the root of the trouble. Producers told her when the show resumes, she had better come back with a smile on her face and without the chip on her shoulder.” the National Enquirer writes in its most recent issue, citing reliable sources right from the set of the hit show.

In January, a spokesperson for ABC announced that, starting with March 26, “Ugly Betty” would go on indefinite hiatus, its spot going to two new series that would debut. However, it was said at the time, fans should not take this as a cancellation, but simply as making room for the newcomers, which also need their fair share of the spotlight.

“’Ugly Betty’ will return to Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. following the run of ‘In the Motherhood’ and ‘Samantha Who?’ The Thursday night block is a good opportunity to launch these comedies. That said, ‘Betty’ is a solid performer, and there is no question that it will definitely be back to complete its season, just without repeats.” the ABC spokesperson told the media back then.
