Word that Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling will be having their very own mini-“Beverly Hills 90210” “reunion” thanks to a new TV series got out online in October last year, and now confirmation for the pilot of the series has come.

TV Guide confirms that “Mystery Girls” is coming to ABC Family: if the pilot fares well with audiences, a full season will be ordered, with more to come if it still performs as expected in the ratings.

And, let’s be honest here, how many of you don’t want to see if Kelly and Donna still have the same chemistry together as in the days of yore? Judging from reactions online, I’m not alone in being slightly thrilled for this project.

However, don’t expect it to be a re-make of the plot in “90210.”

“Mystery Girls will star the duo as two former TV cops who are brought back together by a real-life mystery. Garth plays Charlie, a suburban housewife and mother, while Spelling plays Holly, a former starlet who longs for her '90s glory days,” TV Guide says.

“Newcomer Miguel Pinzon plays Nick, the witness to a crime and a Mystery Girls fanatic who gets the girl back in action. Garth and Spelling will also executive-produce with Maggie Malina (Single Ladies),” the trade publication adds.

The pilot will air at a yet unspecified date later this year, with ABC Family bosses saying they’re positive the series will turn into a fan favorite. We’ll see.
