Remake flops in the ratings, gets the axe after just 3 episodes

Poor ratings have made another victim in the fall season: ABC has just announced that “Charlie’s Angels,” the remake of the classic television series, will be discontinued. Other shows have also gotten the axe.

Starring Minka Kelly, “Charlie’s Angels” was meant as a sassier, modern but just as action-packed version of the original series, but it was clear from the start that it lacked fan support.

After just 3 episodes, ABC bosses have made the decision to not shoot any more episodes, TooFab informs.

“Production on ‘Charlie’s Angels’ has been shut down, but ABC will reportedly air the remaining already-shot episodes. Three episodes have aired to poor ratings,” the e-zine says.

“ABC will air a Charlie Brown Halloween special in ‘Charlie’s’ place on October 27 (ouch!),” the same report notes.

The “Angels” is not the only show to get the axe this fall season: as we also informed you, just days ago, NBC also killed “The Playboy Club” with Eddie Cibrian, also after just 3 season and also because of disastrous ratings.

With ABC’s announcement come others.

“TNT announced it was dropping Jason Lee’s cop drama ‘Memphis Beat’ after two seasons. ‘Men of a Certain Age’ and ‘HawthoRNe’ were canceled as well,” TooFab writes. Hank Azaria’s sitcom ‘Free Agents’ has also gotten the boot.

The other day, ratings for “Two and a Half Men” also came out and, while a far cry from the figures registered with any of these shows mentioned above, they’re still rather worrying for a show that used to always come on top.

After just a few episodes with Ashton Kutcher as the lead, instead of Charlie Sheen, “Two and a Half Men” went from 29 million viewers to 17.7 million, coming in third for the night it aired.

Granted, it’s still a top show but the drop is too severe not to get people talking about whether CBS might not already be thinking about pulling the plug after the current season, since it’s clear fans aren’t warming up to Kutcher and no Charlie.
