A Pair of Special Bejeweled Shoes Will Step on the Red Carpet at the Oscars

- Stuart Weitzman designed a pair of shoes adorned with Rita Hayworth's jewelry, shoes that will be auctioned in order to help the Alzheimer's Association

By: Adina Gheorghe, Entertainment Editor

On this year’s red carpet at the Oscars, a lucky actress will wear extravagant shoes ornamented by Stuart Weitzman with Rita
Hayworth's jewelry. This is the fifth year Weitzman has created opulent shoes for the Oscars, but the first to create a pair accessorized with such glamorous details.

"This is true Hollywood glamour!" said the shoe designer himself. "I am taking personal jewels from a screen legend and creating a one-of-a-kind pair of shoes, which will be worn by a movie star of today," he added. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan who is Hayworth's daughter gave Weitzman the permission to use the jewels in order to create the planned masterpiece.

It hasn’t been yet revealed who will be the one to wear the shoes, as the designer needs first to choose one of the two pairs of earrings he selected – one ruby and one diamond – to coordinate with the actress’s dress. The announcement of who’s going to be the privileged actress is set for March 2. That’s what Roger Neal of Neal Public Relations, which represents Weitzman said in a recent statement. He also said that the estimated value of the bejeweled shoes is somewhere around $3 million.

The jewelry adorned shoes will be auctioned a day after the Oscars, on March 6 and the money is dedicated to the Alzheimer's Association, in the memory of Rita Hayworth, who suffered and died from Alzheimer’s disease in 1987, at the age of 68.
