The phishing schemes have left the email world to enter the web site one. If until now the foundation of every phishing scheme was an email that requested the user to renew a certain account, now, phishers got bored of generating spam and resorted to newer methods, easier for them to gather personal information.
Panda Software has
discovered a series of sites that sold plane tickets at low prices, but were in fact well elaborated phishing schemes.
In this way, the clients are convinced that they carry out a real transaction, but after the number of the card, the expiry date and the CVV are introduced, the site informs the user that the transaction has failed and are presented with instructions on how to pay using money order.
Even if these sites were shutdown, Panda Software warns the users to watch out for commercial sites, especially the ones less known, that offer big discounts, because it is expected that other sites will adopt this phishing scheme.
Unfortunately, the only protection method is vigilance, Panda Software recommending users that before carrying out a transaction to search information about the website.
