Google decided to expand on acronyms search and it seems to have quietly introduced a new feature to their web search: acronym expansion.
When you search for wfs clinton, you can see the full title "World Food Summit" in bold. Google in their search results pages only bolds what they understand to be the search query's keywords - and this means they understand
"WFS" means "World Food Summit".
But that's not all there is to it as the same online search giant also released a local service with new features available in the US and Canada, which is as of recently linked as main tab from the Google homepage. First of all, the Google Maps service is now shown right on Google Local search results as fully working (draggable) mini-map with location flags.
Second, when you now click on a Google Local search result, you will be taken to a more detailed page with information like reviews for a specific restaurant.
Last but not least for the day, Google announced two new updates to Google Image Search that further help users find the information they need. First, Google Image Search now includes more than 1.1 billion images from around the world.
With a comprehensive index of images, users can quickly and easily find relevant images of both popular and obscure queries.
On top of that, Google released a new feature that displays images from Google Image Search above Google web search results when they're relevant to users' search queries.
