This post goes to all those who want to identify, update or just install the drivers for their Intel wireless network cards and are having troubles doing so.

The main issue is that these wireless cards are sometimes discreet pieces of technology and you just can't read all the specs you need by just taking a peek. For some unexperienced users, using the Windows Device Manager may be a rather difficult task as meddling with the Windows settings or Control Panel may not be the easiest thing to do.

Intel have come up with an easy tool designed exactly for this kind of users: the Intel Driver Update Utility. It is a Java web-based application which will detect your network card and the current version of the driver operating it, so you can trace and download the latest software for your device later.

Intel specifies that the Driver Update Utility sports the following features:

- It can only be downloaded with your permission.
- No personal information is collected.
- Easy and fast to download and run.
- Easily removed after analysis performed.
- If you are behind a firewall, you may not have permission to download browser components.
- Your browser's security settings must allow you to install ActiveX/Java Plug-in components.
- The tool is not Spyware or Adware.

You can use this tool with products in the following series:
