The gaming industry has a lot of iconic characters that, whether they are known for their personality, attitude or deepness, are now famous around the world. Of course, Hollywood wasn't oblivious to such a thing and has turned a lot of them into movie stars, courtesy of actors.

Such is the case with the lovely Lara Croft, who became famous for her leading role in the Tomb Raider franchise of video games and who was played by Angelina Jolie in the movie series. The films were a benchmark for game-based flicks that, up until then, didn't really break any quality records.

Now, after releasing Terminator Salvation, producer Dan Lim has talked about the future Tomb Raider movie and how we won't see Angelina Jolie playing the leading character, as the flick will be based on an origin story, and will feature a new and younger Lara in the main role.

“We're rebooting Lara Croft,” Lim said. “It's a great origin story that we're going to tell, a very character-oriented, I would say more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies. It's not full-on action. I would say it's like Terminator, it's character driven action. For me, the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action, but with character.”

So it seems that the character is not only scheduled for a reboot in the video game series but also in the movies. Hopefully though more details will be revealed soon about who will play the lovely character in the movie and about her new adventures in the virtual world. Look forward to more details about every gamer's favorite tomb raiding heroine in the near future. Until then, you can enjoy Angelina Jolie and Tomb Raider: Underworld.
